FAQ

Ecorasa products with Oxium Technology

OXIUM is an additive in the form of resins that are mixed in together with conventional plastic resins during the manufacturing process. OXIUM is made from non-heavy natural minerals and is proven to be a safe and effective way to shorten the plastic degradation process from 500-1000 years to 2-5 years.

OXIUM serves as a pro-oxidant within the plastic that enhances the degradation process through oxidation with the help of UV light, oxygen, heat, and other natural conditions. The oxidation process allows microbes to convert the micro-particles into biomass, H2O, and CO2.

Yes, it is! OXIUM has gone through and passed numerous tests by credible organizations such as:

  • RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) 🡪 EU
  • FDA (Food and Drug Administration) 🡪 US
  • BPOM (Badan Pengawasan Obat dan Makanan) 🡪 ID
  • Food Migration Test Standard 🡪 EU & JP

By passing the ASTM D6954 International Standard, it is proven that OXIUM treated plastic does not only fragmentize but also degrades into biomass, H2O, and CO2 which is harmless to the environment and to humans.

No. OXIUM treated plastics will degrade in landfill and other places where UV light, oxygen, heat, and other natural conditions are present.

It is not recommended that Ecorasa products be disposed into the ocean, because any waste should be disposed through the proper channels. However, we understand that we do not live in a perfect world, and that waste may end up in the ocean. For that reason, OXIUM treated plastic will still degrade as long as UV light, oxygen, and heat are present.

TBD

OXIUM does not change the functionality of plastic.

Yes, OXIUM treated plastic can be recycled.
